Santa Ana’s Perez Fights for State Title Tonight in Irvine
Tomas Perez of Santa Ana takes on Kenny Lopez of San Jose tonight for the vacant California super welterweight title in the main event of the monthly boxing program at the Irvine Marriott.
The fight is scheduled for 12 rounds. Perez is 18-3 and 2-0 at Irvine this year. Lopez is 16-6 and 1-1 at Irvine this year.
There also are two scheduled semi-main events. Luis Hernandez (8-4) of Redlands battles Armando Baeza (7-2) of Norwalk in an eight-round super featherweight bout.
Richard DeMarco (6-2) of Newport Beach fights Abel Cordova (24-14) of Mexico City in the six-round bout. In his most recent fight, DeMarco knocked out James Fenderson in the second round on July 25.
The first of six scheduled bouts starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today at the hotel.
