A fire that has charred a 35-mile swath across Yellowstone National Park threatened one of the park’s most picturesque areas, officials said. The North Fork fire, which started July 23 in Idaho’s Targhee National Forest, grew to nearly 100,000 acres and forced the closure of the Canyon area, Yellowstone’s largest development with 600 cabins and 280 campsites. More than 700 visitors and employees were sent to other parts of the park. Meanwhile, crews southeast of Helena, Mont., said they expected to contain the 37,600-acre Warm Springs Creek blaze Friday.
