Fire Chars 15 Acres
A brush fire a mile north of the Santee landfill burned about 15 acres Tuesday and was brought under control after aircraft dumped fire retardant on it, officials reported.
The fire, which started about 10 p.m. and lasted an hour, was also fought by 35 firefighters, San Diego Fire Department spokesman Larry Stewart said, adding that the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
