Local News in Brief : Newport Beach : Cafe Is Damaged in Early-Morning Blaze
A fire broke out at the Newport Cafe early Tuesday morning, causing $150,000 damage, fire officials said.
Officers noticed the flames at about 12:40 a.m. while driving by the cafe at 2900 Newport Blvd.
It took 17 firefighters only several minutes to control the fire, which was burning through the roof when they arrived, a Fire Department official said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. No one was injured.
