Chicago White Sox manager Jim Fregosi said he would like to return next year, but General Manager Larry Himes indicated that no decision would be made on Fregosi until the regular season ends.
The Chicago Sun-Times, quoting unidentified sources, reported that Fregosi probably will not be back and will be replaced by someone closer to Himes. The Sun-Times said that Himes tried to fire Fregosi in the spring, before the start of the season, but was overruled by board chairman Jerry Reinsdorf.
