Bob Nordskog of Van Nuys set a powerboat speed record when he traveled from San Francisco to Marina del Rey in 5 hours 57 minutes 22 seconds. The 75-year-old Nordskog broke his own record of 7:02.39, which he set May 7, 1978.
Nordskog averaged 76 m.p.h. in a 39-foot Cigarette boat. Actor Chuck Norris holds the diesel record of 7:41.19, set in August.
