A 19-year-old Sylmar man surrendered Monday in the shooting death of a man on a Pacoima street, Los Angeles police said.

Leroy Wheeler was held without bail on suspicion of murder after surrendering at the Foothill Police Station shortly before 1 a.m. Monday, Lt. Robert Stemples said. About 12 hours earlier, police found Tracy Anderson, 24, shot to death in the 13000 block of Montford Street.

The shooting was believed to have resulted from a dispute Sunday between Wheeler and the victim over a car, police said. Wheeler had been making payments to Anderson for the car, police said.

Stemples said it was unclear whether Wheeler fired the shots that killed Anderson. Detectives hope to question as many as four other men believed to have been with Anderson at the time of the incident, Stemples said.
