Richard Gronos of Newport Beach was one of two Southern Californians to win $2.6 million in the midweek state Lotto drawing, lottery officials in Sacramento announced Friday.

The other $2.6 million winner was Jill Pepper, 19, of Escondido, a student at Palomar College, according to lottery public relations director John Schade.

Schade said that Gronos, who bought his winning ticket at Baycrest Spirits & Wine Shop, on 17th Street in Costa Mesa, requested that only his name and city be announced.

After taxes are withheld, Gronos and Pepper will each receive about $104,000 a year for 20 years.

Schade said Pepper was the youngest person ever to win the weekly drawing.

The winning numbers were 2, 6, 7, 10, 33, 39 and the bonus, 39.
