Navy Woman Arrested in Stabbing Death

Two Navy women were involved in a fight that left one dead with numerous stab wounds in her Spring Valley apartment and the other jailed on suspicion of murder, the Sheriff’s Department reported Saturday.

Lt. Bill Baxter said the body of 21-year-old Shelly Elaine Dupee was found in her living room when a neighbor noticed her door ajar about 10:20 p.m. Friday in the apartment complex in the 1600 block of Canyon Road.

She had been stabbed many times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly afterward, the victim’s fried arrived at the Naval Hospital in Balboa Park with a cut on her left hand. She was questioned by authorities, and then arrested.

Baxter said that Sherral Clayton, 24, who lived in Lemon Grove and was also in the Navy, was booked on suspicion of murder. He said she was being held without bail in the Las Colinas Detention Facility.
