Local News in Brief : Bomb Suspect Posts Bail of $1 Million
- Share via
Millionaire Hawthorne real estate developer William Ross, facing federal charges in a 1980 fatal mail bombing, has been released on bond after posting $1 million in property.
He was released late Tuesday after the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals reversed an earlier decision of U.S. District Judge Dickran Tevrizian denying Ross bail on grounds that he might flee.
Ross faces trial Dec. 19 in the death of Patricia Wilkerson, a Manhattan Beach secretary who was killed when she opened a package addressed to her boss, with whom Ross was embroiled in a real estate dispute.
Along with Ross, a federal grand jury has indicted Rochelle Manning, now in custody in Los Angeles, and her husband, Robert, a fugitive in Israel.
