Tropical Holiday Sets Santa Anita Turf Mark
Tropical Holiday set a course record of 1:34 1/5 for one mile on the turf Thursday while scoring a 2 3/4-length victory in the $50,000 feature for fillies and mares at Santa Anita’s Oak Tree meeting.
Ironcombe rallied to finish second, a head in front of Duckling Park, the 7-10 favorite of the crowd of 13,004.
Tropical Holiday, ridden by Gary Stevens, shaved two-fifths of a second off the two-week-old mark established by Daloma.
It was the ninth victory in 38 starts for the 5-year-old mare, who paid $12, $6 and $3.
