Aguilar Wins Split Decision in Forum Bout

Rodolfo Aguilar of Panama City, Panama, won a split 10-round decision over Terrence Alli of Englewood, N.J., in their super-lightweight tournament elimination bout Monday night at the Forum.

Aguilar, who weighed 139, came on strong in the middle rounds, using a longer reach to score.

The bout was Aguilar’s first as a super lightweight. He is ranked No. 6 in the world as a lightweight by the World Boxing Assn.

Alli, who weighed 140, appeared to be in control of the bout in the early going.

Aguilar improved his record to 20-2 with 10 knockouts.

Alli, ranked No. 8 by the WBA a super lightweight, drops to 37-6-2 with 14 KOs.

In a welterweight bout scheduled to go 10 rounds, Felix Estrada of Montebello knocked out Jorge Rivera of Monterey Park in the ninth round.

Estrada, who weighed in at 148 pounds, sent Rivera, 146, to the canvas with a right hand at the 35-second mark of the ninth round. He was counted out by referee Dr. James Jen-Kin.
