Local News in Brief : La Habra : Woman Hit by Car Dies of Her Injuries

A woman who was struck by a car while walking across Harbor Boulevard died of her injuries Tuesday, authorities said.
Elena Billarreal, 29, of La Habra was walking in a crosswalk near Francis Avenue at 6:45 p.m. Monday when she was hit by a car driven by Erin Anschutz, 19, of Rowland Heights, police said.
A 5-year-old boy with Billarreal managed to stop in time and was not injured, according to La Habra Police Lt. John Buchholz.
Billarreal died of her injuries shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday at UCI Medical Center in Orange, police said.
Anschutz, who was driving a Nissan Sentra, was not immediately charged in the accident, Buchholz said. He said the investigation is continuing.
