Reagan Heckled in Orange Co.
A group of demonstrators chanting “We want Mike” and “Where was George?” disrupted President Reagan’s campaign speech today at Cal State Fullerton in heavily Republican Orange County.
The demonstrators stood in the back of the gymnasium that otherwise was filled with about 4,000 supporters of GOP presidential candidate George Bush. At one point, Reagan turned to Gov. George Deukmejian and other dignitaries on the platform and asked what the dissenters were saying. After being told, an unruffled Reagan said to the crowd, “You know, if they’d shut up and listen, they’d learn where George Bush is.”
