Pasadena High tailback Bobby Webster rushed for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns in 13 carries as the Bulldogs defeated Glendale, 27-0, Thursday night in a Pacific League game at Glendale.

Webster scored on runs of 65, 2 and 80 yards--all coming on option pitches from quarterback Kyle Washington--to keep the Bulldogs (7-2, 4-0) unbeaten in league play.

“When you’ve got a smart quarterback it always works,” said Webster, who proceeded to lobby for even more attention. “They wouldn’t feed me enough but the coach always knows best.”

Glendale (3-6, 0-4) , which has lost 6 games in a row after a 3-0 start, came out tough after halftime and held the Bulldogs scoreless in the third quarter, but the Dynamiters were unable to sustain a drive.

At the start of the fourth quarter, Washington completed 4 consecutive passes, including 2 to flanker John McCoy for 16 and 26 yards. And with 7:01 to play, Webster punched in from the 2. He again scored on a pitch from Washington for the 2-point conversion to make the score, 21-0.

On the third play of the ensuing drive, a pass thrown by Glendale quarterback Rick Callister was intercepted by Tahrell Miles at the Pasadena 26. Four plays later Webster tore down the left sideline on an 80-yard scoring romp. The conversion attempt failed.

On the following series, the Dynamiters came within 5 yards of a touchdown. Callister hit Richard Kownack with an arcing 49-yard pass to the Pasadena 5.

Callister found fullback Rafik Thorossian on an out pattern in the end zone but Thorossian dropped the ball.

“He was supposed to go to the corner but he cut inside,” Callister said. “It’s not his fault. He just read it that way.”

Callister then tried for tailback Corey White, but threw it behind him. On the following play, he threw his second interception of the night--Chris Jeter picked it off at the 3. The Bulldogs then ran out the clock.

With 3:10 remaining in the first half and Pasadena ahead, 7-0, Miles returned Edward Escobar’s punt 89 yards down the right sideline to give the Bulldogs a 13-0 lead. McCoy’s point-after attempt was blocked.

The Dynamiters moved the ball well on their opening series and relied primarily on Thorossian running the ball up the gut. He finished the half with 57 yards in 11 carries.

On the third play of Pasadena’s opening series, Webster took a pitch, cut back through the Glendale secondary and raced 65 yards for his first touchdown.
