Rio Mesa 28, San Marcos 24--Rio Mesa scored the winning touchdown on a 1-yard keeper by quarterback John Gomez in the fourth quarter at Rio Mesa.
Rio Mesa (3-6, 2-4) rallied from a 17-0 halftime deficit to pull ahead, 21-17, on a 52-yard run by fullback Charlie Arceo with 9:37 to play.

A Rio Mesa High receiver incorrectly was credited with a touchdown reception in Friday’s game at Rio Mesa. Kevin Smith caught a 70-yard touchdown pass in Rio Mesa’s 28-24 win over San Marcos.
San Marcos (3-6, 1-5) took a 24-21 lead with 6:29 remaining by capping a 71-yard drive with a 1-yard run by Eric Christoferson.
Rio Mesa wide receiver Kevin Smith caught 5 passes for 161 yards and running back Geoff Freedman caught a 70-yard touchdown pass.
