Local News in Brief : Lindsay Extends Stay in Hospital
Los Angeles City Councilman Gilbert W. Lindsay will remain hospitalized for several more days at his own request as he recovers from a recent stroke, a hospital official said Monday.
Queen of Angels Medical Center spokeswoman Doris Stanley said Lindsay was told by his doctors that he may leave at any time but that the 87-year-old councilman decided to remain, possibly until the end of this week.
Lindsay suffered a mild stroke three weeks ago, which his doctors said left the councilman with only the partial use of his right hand. He has been undergoing physical therapy.
