Share

Child molestation charges have been filed against an aide in a dropout prevention program at Marshall Junior High School in the Long Beach Unified School District.

Melvin Price, an aide in a federally funded pilot program called Cities in Schools, was charged with five counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under age 14 after allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a 13-year-old girl at the school. Price, 26, has denied the charges.

The alleged incident came to light on Nov. 1 when the girl reported it to a teacher, who informed the school’s principal. The principal then contacted police.
