Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : Man Arrested in Bar on Florida Felony Charges
A man wanted in Florida on attempted-murder and burglary charges was arrested by Huntington Beach police officers Wednesday night in a downtown bar, police said.
George F. Butz, 30, was arrested without incident at Perq’s Bar, 117 Main St., Police Sgt. Ed Deuel said.
Florida officials had warned Huntington Beach police that Butz was believed to be in the city and that he might be carrying an Uzi submachine gun, Deuel said.
Because of the possible danger, Huntington Beach’s special weapons and tactics team assisted in the arrest, in which no submachine gun was found.
Butz was being held in the Huntington Beach Jail on Thursday, awaiting extradition to Florida, according to Deuel.
