HONORIFICS
Grammy winners Smokey Robinson and Kenny Loggins will be honored at the second annual National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences awards luncheon, on Dec. 7, for their close involvement and distinguished services to the society and “the recording community at large.” Brooks Arthur, committee chairman of the event, said the fete, which honored Herb Alpert and Quincy Jones last year, “gives us a chance to express our appreciation and recognize those members who, by renewing their memberships year after year, renew their commitment to the standards of excellence the recording academy stands for.” The event, which will be held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, also honors chapter members for 5 to 30 years of involvement with the academy.
