A Costa Mesa woman was in jail Tuesday on suspicion of shooting her roommate several times and leaving him in an alley by their house, police said.
Paul Skokus, 41, was in stable condition Tuesday at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital & Medical Center, Costa Mesa Police Lt. Dennis Cost said.
Police responded Monday to a 12:45 p.m. call reporting that shots had been fired and that a man was lying in an alley. Officers found Skokus near his home in the 200 block of Broadway; he had been shot with a small caliber handgun, Cost said.
