Local News in Brief : Santa Ana : Burn Victim’s Condition Still Extremely Critical
A 20-year-old man whose uncle doused him with gasoline and set him afire remained in extremely critical condition Friday at UCI Medical Center in Orange.
Armando Soriano, 20, suffered burns over 90% of his body when Marcial Vivar, 37, attacked him in their Santa Ana home. Relatives at the home said the men had been arguing over how much money Soriano was contributing to the rent.
Vivar was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and held at Orange County Jail.
It was Soriano’s first Thanksgiving in the United States. He had come to the United States 11 months ago from his native town of Chiautla de Tapia in the state of Puebla just south of Mexico City.
