Local News in Brief : Stanton : 4 Hospitalized, 1 Jailed as 20 Fight With Knives

A knife fight involving 20 people left four men hospitalized and one man in Orange County Jail, police said Friday.

The melee broke out about 8:15 p.m. Thursday in front of a residence in the 11400 block of Court Street, and was over by the time sheriff’s deputies arrived, Lt. Harold Schaffroth said.

“It is unknown why the fight started and it does not appear to be gang-related,” Schaffroth said.

Those hospitalized, all from Stanton, were identified as Fernando M. Bernal, 21, who was in serious condition at Humana West Hospital in Anaheim with a stab wound to the heart; Elgemo E. Perez, 26, who was at Fountain Valley Regional Hospital and Medical Center with cuts on his forehead and left thigh; Samuel E. Perez, 19, who was also at Fountain Valley with stab wounds to the back and head, and Ramon H. Ramirez, 28, at UCI Medical Center in Orange with a stab wound to the stomach.

Schaffroth said none of the victims’ wounds were life threatening.

Hector Alcantar, 27, of Stanton was being held in Orange County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder after being treated at a hospital for minor cuts.
