‘Way Out of Step in Orange County’
It is a shame to see fellow Latinos turn on their people no matter what political beliefs they might have. In response to Del Olmo’s column, the hiring of private uniformed security guards in parts of Orange County is a disgrace. The fact that Carlos Rodriguez hired guards to patrol polling places carrying large signs in order to intimidate Hispanic voters is appalling.
I was born in this country and I would be intimidated by the guards. I am sure many people of other nationalities would be. The Hispanic vote has been recognized as important and nothing should infringe on our right to vote.
Stunts such as these should not be tolerated. Rodriguez’s and Fuentes’ actions must be investigated.
I must add that I am very disappointed by all of this. I am a first-time voter and depend on political role models to help me make my decisions.
