Two rock cocaine dealers shot and fatally wounded a rival drug pusher while trying to move in on his Mid-City turf, Los Angeles police said Thursday.
Two men walked up to a 19-year-old man selling rock cocaine on a sidewalk on West 27th Street and began arguing about which dealer had the right to sell drugs in the neighborhood, Detective John Bunch said. One of the rival drug dealers pulled out a handgun during the argument at 10 p.m. Wednesday and fired three shots, he said.
The victim was not identified pending notification of relatives.
Police were searching for the the two unidentified men, who had been seen selling rock cocaine in the neighborhood recently and were apparently trying to take over some of the victim’s business, Bunch said.
