The Houston Astros will not offer free-agent pitcher Nolan Ryan an opportunity to remain with the team through arbitration, General Manager Bill Wood said. Under the collective bargaining agreement, if the Astros fail to sign Ryan by Wednesday, they will be unable to resume negotiations until May 1.
