Toshihiro Shibutani of Japan moved in front of world-record holder Belanyenh Densimo of Ethiopia in the last 100 meters and won the 23rd Fukuoka International Marathon at Fukuoka, Japan.
Shibutani covered the 26.2 miles in 2 hours 11 minutes 4 seconds, well behind Densimo’s world record of 2:06:50, set in Rotterdam last April.
Densimo finished second in 2:11:09 and Ravil Kashapov of the Soviet Union was in third in 2:11:19.
