A driver was shot in the neck Monday and crashed into a parked vehicle, after which another man in his car was stabbed 11 times, San Diego police said.

Police said a fight between two occupants of separate cars started at 12:45 p.m. near 25th Street and Imperial Avenue in Southeast San Diego. A passenger of one car opened fire, shooting the driver of the second car, Enrique Barrera, 24, in the neck, police reported.

Barrera tried to escape the gunman by driving off, but hit a parked car in the 2400 block of K Street. The occupants of the first car approached the disabled vehicle and stabbed 27-year-old Reyes de los Santos 11 times in the back and chest, stabbed Barrera in the arm and ribs, then fled, police said.

De los Santos was listed in critical but stable condition and Barrera in fair condition at area hospitals. No suspects were in custody late Monday.
