Edberg, Citing Injured Knee, Pulls Out of 3-Day Tennis Event at Forum
Stefan Edberg has withdrawn from this weekend’s Michelin Challenge, a 3-day exhibition tennis event that begins Friday at the Forum.
Edberg, No. 5 in the world, reported to event organizers that he is suffering from an inflammation of the knee, a condition he has had for 2 months.
However, Edberg managed to beat No. 1 Mats Wilander last weekend in the Nabisco Masters in New York but lost to Ivan Lendl Sunday.
A replacement for Edberg has not been named. Other players entered are Lendl, John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Michael Chang and Pete Sampras.
