Now that we are fast approaching the end of the year, I hope that critical organizations and the motion picture academy in particular will not overlook Francis Coppola’s “Tucker,” one of the best films of the year in every department, one that for whatever the reason did not do as well at the box office as it should have done.

If films made with such apparent love and care as “Tucker” are allowed to fall by the wayside, while the mindless trash that at times today passes for entertainment is encouraged, it will be a sad day for all of us who care about the movies and the people who make them.
