Local : Bradley Vetoes Mall Expansion
Standing outside the Westside Pavilion, Mayor Tom Bradley today signed a veto of the 105,000-square-foot expansion plan for the shopping mall approved Wednesday by the City Council. Bradley harshly criticized a deal orchestrated by his probable challenger in the April city election, Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky, who represents the area. He said the conditions applied to an aerial bridge linking the two halves of the mall would permit shops on the bridge, in violation of Proposition U, the 1986 slow-growth initiative.
