President Charles Knapp of the University of Georgia said he is still talking with Dick Sheridan about replacing Vince Dooley as football coach, but both men said no deal has been made.
“Our conversations remain productive and will continue,” Knapp said, adding that he had met again with Sheridan, coach at North Carolina State.
Dooley, after 25 years and 200 victories at Georgia, will coach his last game Jan. 1 in the Gator Bowl against Michigan State.
Dooley will remain as athletic director until sometime early next year. There has been speculation that he will run for governor.
