A minor sewage spill Monday contaminated De Anza Cove in Mission Bay, according to a county health department spokesman.
The spill was caused by an overflow from a manhole at Mission Bay Drive and Rosewood Lane that flowed into a storm drain, then into De Anza Cove, said Don Gallagher.
By the time city crews arrived at the scene at 1:30 p.m., the overflow had cleared itself, Gallagher said. He estimated that 600 gallons of sewage was spilled.
The cove has been posted against recreational use until further notice.
