Julie Krone won the next to last...
Julie Krone won the next to last race of the thoroughbred season to break the Meadowlands record for most victories in a season.
The victory in the ninth race aboard Jessi Jessi, a 4-year-old filly that came from far back, was Krone’s 132nd, eclipsing the mark of 131 set by Herb McCauley in 1985. Earlier in the day, Krone lost two consecutive races by a nose.
Krone, 25, the winningest female jockey in thoroughbred history, also won her second Meadowlands riding title.
