A Huntington Beach man, who police said was driving his Chevrolet Corvette at 106 m.p.h., died Monday night when he lost control of the car and hit a power pole on Bolsa Chica Road, police said.

Frank Rossi, 26, was driving southbound on Bolsa Chica Road near Westminster Boulevard about 9:15 p.m. Monday when Westminster Police Officer J. Davidson, using radar, determined he was traveling 106 m.p.h., Lt. Richard Main said.

Davidson said he attempted to catch up to the driver and pull him over, but Rossi went out of control just north of Rancho Road and slammed into a power pole.
