All-American pitcher-first baseman John Olerud of Washington State was listed in satisfactory condition after being hospitalized in Pullman, Wash. Olerud collapsed Wednesday while running at the end of a workout.
As a sophomore last spring, Olerud posted a 15-0 record, batted .464 and was named collegiate player of the year by the newspaper, Baseball America.
His father, a Washington State professor also named John Olerud, said his son was conscious and alert but apparently had suffered a brain seizure. Tests showed no sign of brain abnormality or structural damage, the older Olerud said.
