Local : Saltzman Quits City Council Race
From Times wire services
A leading challenger in Los Angeles’ 5th City Council District race, Steve Saltzman, unexpectedly dropped out today and endorsed incumbent Los Angeles Councilman Zev Yaroslavsky.
Saltzman’s departure follows the surprise entry of his former campaign consultant, Jack McGrath, into the race last weekend. Laura Lake, a UCLA professor and slow-growth activist, is considered the strongest remaining challenger to Yaroslavsky, who is seeking reelection. The election is April 11.
