Three starters on the New Mexico State basketball team were injured when the van they were riding in was struck and rolled over at a foggy intersection near the Fresno airport.
The three Aggie starters injured were center Steve McGlothin, forward Willie Joseph and guard Jeff McCool.
Visibility was reported to be near zero at the time of the accident. Police reports said that a van driven by Kenneth Smith, a New Mexico State trainer, was hit broadside by a car driven by Rachel Avila of Fresno.
McCool suffered a neck injury and a possible concussion; Joseph suffered a lower back injury, and McGlothin suffered a cut knee. McCool and McGlothin were listed as doubtful for the Aggies’ conference game against Cal State Long Beach in Las Cruces on Saturday.
