Seattle’s Alvin Davis and five other major league baseball players avoided arbitration by agreeing to new contracts, and free agent Neil Allen found a new team.

Davis agreed to a 3-year, $4.45-million contract with the Mariners, and Allen agreed to a 1-year contract with the Cleveland Indians worth $325,000.

Shawon Dunston and Al Nipper of the Chicago Cubs, Zane Smith of the Atlanta Braves, John Cerutti of the Toronto Blue Jays and Edwin Nunez of the New York Mets, all of whom had filed for arbitration, agreed to 1-year contracts.
