Pasadena : Plan to Aid Quake Victims

Share

6A committee appointed by Pasadena Mayor William Thomson to recommend ways the city can help victims of the earthquake in Armenia has proposed that the city sponsor a Pasadena Crusade for the Children of Armenia.

George Van Alstine, who headed the committee and is also chairman of the Pasadena Commission on Children and Youth, recommended that the city support a fund-raising effort to help children in Leninaken, a city of 200,000 that was badly damaged by the Dec. 7 earthquake. Artificial limbs and psychological counseling are needed, he said.

The Board of Directors delayed action on the recommendation until Jan. 31 to coordinate plans with the Tournament of Roses Assn., which is also considering a fund-raising effort for earthquake victims.
