Two men impersonating plainclothes police investigators robbed a La Habra family of cash and jewelry, police said today.

The two men knocked on the door of Louie and Deborah Reynoso’s home in the 1000 block of Encinitas Street about 8:10 p.m. Wednesday and said they were police officers investigating a hit-and-run accident, La Habra Police Lt. John Buchholz said. They were not wearing uniforms, but they displayed “some type of badge from inside their wallets and the couple invited them in,” he said.

Once inside, one of the men pulled out a semiautomatic .45-caliber handgun and forced the couple to remove cash and jewelry from a wall safe. The men then handcuffed Louie Reynoso and fled on foot, Buchholz said.
