A small fire was started in the vestibule of boxing promoter Don King’s office Thursday night when a flammable liquid was thrown under the door, a Fire Department spokesman said.

King called it a terrorist activity. “It’s a terrible, terrible, terrible thing,” he said today.

The promoter returned to New York from Las Vegas this week to give a deposition in heavyweight champion Mike Tyson’s suit against his estranged manager, Bill Cayton.

King said he had received no threats accompanying the incident, but “I would imagine I’ll hear from them if somebody sent somebody else to do this.”

Earlier, Police Department spokesman Sgt. John Clifford called the burning device a Molotov cocktail. He said the bombing took place about 11:35 p.m. EST and the amount of damage was undetermined.

“It’ll cost a little for a new door, and there was some smoke damage,” King told The Associated Press.
