Michael Jordan Tops Poll : Magic No. 2 in All-Star Voting

Guard Michael Jordan of the Chicago Bulls, the NBA’s leading scorer, topped Magic Johnson, the leader of the two-time champion Los Angeles Lakers, in the fan voting for the league’s All-Star Game.

In the final balloting announced today, Jordan, who is averaging 35.1 points per game, received 1,003,062 votes. Johnson, the all-time leader in the All-Star Game in assists with 111, collected 856,751 votes.

Joining Jordan on the Eastern Conference starting team will be center Moses Malone of the Atlanta Hawks, guard Isiah Thomas of the Detroit Pistons, and forwards Dominique Wilkens of Atlanta and Charles Barkley of the Philadelphia 76ers.

The Western Conference starters, in addition to Johnson, will be center Akeem Olajuwon of the Houston Rockets, guard Dale Ellis of the Seattle SuperSonics, and forwards Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz and Alex English of the Denver Nuggets.
