Palomar League

Vista 82, San Dieguito 36--Four players scored in double figures at second-ranked Vista overpowered San Dieguito. Vista (16-3, 6-1) was led by Chris Enger (26), Kelly Schott (22), Dana Christofferson (13) and Brook Risner (10). Schott added 13 assists and shot 56% from the field. Connie Lucas’s 16 points led San Dieguito (7-10, 2-5).

Palomar League

Poway 47, Orange Glen 39--Neville Saner, Poway’s coach, wasn’t overjoyed with his team’s shooting performance (35% from the field), but the third-ranked Titans rebounded from Wednesday’s loss to top-ranked Torrey Pines behind Jon Culbertson’s 20 points.

“We don’t have that little bit of poise and exactness that you need to score well,” said Saner, whose team improved to 16-2, 5-2. “We won because we played good, solid defense.” Poway converted just 17 of 31 free throws.

Vista 50, San Dieguito 39--Vista (6-13, 2-5) pulled itself out of the league’s cellar with a victory at San Dieguito (7-12, 1-6).

Herbie Weston’s 18 points paced Vista as the Panthers outscored San Dieguito, 27-15, in the second half. Matt de La Pena led the Mustangs with 10 points.

Mt. Carmel 57, Fallbrook 46--After a close first half--Mt. Carmel led by 1--and low-scoring third quarter--Mt. Carmel outscored host Fallbrook, 9-4--the Sundevils (13-6, 5-2) stretched out the remainder of the game for the victory. Shane Knight (15) led Mt. Carmel. Tim Cummin (10) and Keith Elston (9) led Fallbrook (9-10, 4-3).

Avocado League

Oceanside 56, Escondido 46--Visiting Oceanside outscored Escondido, 18-6, in the second quarter to take command. Lee Dunn led Oceanside (8-8, 6-2) with 14 points, and Jerry Garrett added 12. Brooks Barnhard (25 points) was the only player for Escondido (10-7, 5-3) to reach double figures.

El Camino 89, Ramona 75--Travis Gilley’s 29 points, including seven 3-pointers, were both season highs and helped seal El Camino’s victory. Teammates Dee Boyer contributed 15 points, 15 rebounds and 3 blocks. Shaun Scurry had 15 points and 7 rebounds, and Todd Swanson added 9 points and 16 assists. El Camino improved to 14-5, 6-2. Tony Newman (35) and Nate Hollingsworth (19) led Ramona (6-12, 3-5).

San Pasqual 60, San Marcos 50--Erik Meek scored more than half of the Golden Eagles’ points as San Pasqual (8-8, 5-3) won at San Marcos (5-13, 1-7). Jay Kitti’s 26 points and Travis Switzer’s 15 led San Marcos, which had two players foul out.

Metro Conference

Southwest 71, Hilltop 44--Host Southwest held Hilltop to four first-quarter points and won easily. Adalberto Silva had 19 points and 10 rebounds for Southwest (16-5, 9-0). Will Tate had 13 points, Alex Balce 12 and Art Balce 11. Hilltop is 6-14 and 2-6.

Mar Vista 57, Marian 46--Host Mar Vista (4-15, 2-7) led after three quarters, 40-19, before Marian (2-12, 2-6) warmed up for 27 fourth-quarter points. Tim Page had 17 points and 14 rebounds for Mar Vista, and Tim O’Neal had 16 points. Jerry Conlin led Marian with 17 points, and Donald Terry had 16.

Bonita Vista 74, Montgomery 60--Casey June scored 23 points, Alan McNemee had 21, and Matt Gibbs added 16 for host Bonita Vista (5-12, 4-6). Albert Maldonado scored a game-high 38 points for Montgomery (0-16, 0-10).

Castle Park 58, Coronado 57--Castle Park (6-13, 5-5) was down by four points, but with 1 minute left Coronado (7-11, 6-4) was charged with a technical foul for slapping the ball out of bounds. Brad Grady made both free throws, closing Castle Park’s gap to 57-55. Seconds later, Grady was fouled while shooting and made 1 of 2 from the line, making the score 57-56. Castle Park’s Kico Moya was fouled and made both free throws with 15 seconds left to win the game.

City Central

San Diego 64, Christian 54--Raynard Wells scored 32 points to lead San Diego (13-3, 4-1) to a come-from-behind victory at Christian. In the first half, Christian’s David Jeremiah scored 24 points to give the Patriots a 34-26 lead. But San Diego shut out Jeremiah the rest of the way and used a 12-4 run to pull even at 38-38.

Crawford 72, St. Augustine 62--Chris Johnson led Crawford (13-6, 3-2) with 21, Leon Parker had 20 points and 13 rebounds. Crawford led 61-40 at the end of the third quarter.

City Eastern League

Madison 88, Mira Mesa 62--Robby Robbinson had 33 points, 10 steals and 8 rebounds as visiting Madison (12-8, 4-1) took a 22-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and coasted. Brad Eaddy had 19 points and 15 rebounds for Madison, and Monte Bohannon added 17 points and 12 rebounds. Marc Ziegler scored 14 points for Mira Mesa (4-17, 0-5).

Lincoln 119, Hoover 74--Joe Temple had 38 points and 15 rebounds, and Aaron Wilhite had 29 points and 29 rebounds for Lincoln (20-1, 5-0). Lincoln led, 51-22, at halftime. Hoover is 1-17 and 0-5.

Morse 53, Serra 51 (OT)--For Morse, Darryl Lewis hit a field goal with 2:20 left in regulation to make it 47-46. Then with 1:31 remaining, Lewis made a free throw to send the game into overtime.

Patrick Henry 55, Point Loma 47--Kenny Caesar scored 21 points and Terrence Hamilton scored 14 for Patrick Henry (10-8, 3-2). Point Loma (10-10, 2-3) trailed, 23-21, at halftime but was outscored, 32-26, in the second half.

City Western League

University City 51, Kearny 35--Leading at halftime, 23-20, host Kearny scored just 12 second-half points. Kearny managed six points in the first 13 minutes of the second half.

La Jolla 61, USDHS 40--Four players reached double figures for No. 7 La Jolla: Davey Berteaux, Adam Kleid and Erick Litch scored 13 points apiece and Kyle Kupiec had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
