Runner Ray Wicksell, suspended for 4 years...
Runner Ray Wicksell, suspended for 4 years by The Athletics Congress, the national governing body for track and field, for competing in meets in South Africa last October, is moving from Phoenix to Pretoria and is marrying an African runner.
Wicksell, 31, said he is planning to marry Ilze de Kock, 29, Feb. 18. She is the first South African runner to break 2 minutes in the half-mile and is considered a national hero in her homeland.
A former Arizona State University track star, Wicksell said he competed in three South African meets last October mainly for the money, which reportedly ranged from $30,000 to $100,000 for the tour.
