Darrin Van Horn became the new International Boxing Federation junior middleweight champion, overpowering defending title holder Robert Hines to earn a 12-round unanimous decision at Atlantic City, N.J.
Van Horn, a 20-year-old junior at the University of Kentucky, used an effective defense and sharp counterpunching to beat Hines, 27, a Philadelphia fighter.
