CHICAGO — Sixteen-year-old Michael Chang, capitalizing on numerous unforced errors, upset second-seeded Jimmy Connors, 6-3, 7-6, Thursday in a second-round match at the $350,000 Volvo Chicago tennis tournament.
After losing his serve in the 11th game of the second set to go down, 5-6, Chang broke Connors back to force the tiebreaker, which Chang won, 7-2.
Chang, ranked 29th in the world, is fresh from two Davis Cup wins against Paraguay. Connors, 36, is ranked seventh.
