Girls’ Basketball : North Hollywood, Reseda Tie for Mid-Valley Crown

North Hollywood High, possibly suffering an emotional letdown on the heels of a victory over arch-rival Reseda, still played well enough Friday to clinch a share of the Mid-Valley League title with a 63-45 win over visiting Van Nuys.

North Hollywood (16-4, 9-1) tied Reseda for the league crown and will enter next week’s City Section 4-A Division playoffs as the league’s No. 1- or No. 2-seeded team, depending on the outcome of a coin flip Tuesday.

Reseda 59, Monroe 36--The Regents dominated play inside in the Mid-Valley League game. Forward Jennifer Marzahl had 20 points and 18 rebounds, center Aggie Garcia had 15 points and 17 rebounds and forward Cheryl Hightower had 11 points as Reseda’s front line outscored Monroe’s, 46-16. Reseda (14-4, 9-1) took a share of the league title with the win.

Kennedy 60, Chatsworth 45--Dawn Coleman scored 25 points as Kennedy (10-0 in league play) clinched the North Valley League title. The Golden Cougars have won 120 consecutive league games.

El Camino Real 81, Cleveland 44--Lisa Huffaker scored a game-high 22 points in a North Valley League game at El Camino Real.

Grant 63, Sylmar 16--Monique Young had 22 points and 16 rebounds to lead Grant to a share of the East Valley League title.

Birmingham 62, Poly 46--Birmingham finished tied with Grant as East Valley League champion.

With the score tied, 41-41, after three quarters, the Braves (7-7, 5-1) darted to a 21-5 finish.

Thousand Oaks 66, Royal 37--Shani Smyth scored 27 points, Amy Chandler added 18 and Michelle Palmisano had 16 as Thousand Oaks (22-4, 10-2) clinched its second consecutive Marmonte League title.

Hart 75, Schurr 56--Nikki Brodowy had 23 points and 19 rebounds as the host Indians (21-2, 10-0) never trailed.
