San Francisco Giants shortstop Jose Uribe will be tried Monday in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on a rape charge filed against him last week, judge Freddy Matos said Saturday.
Uribe has been charged of threatening a woman with a gun and raping her. He has denied the charge.
Uribe, 29, underwent a difficult 1988 season. His wife, Sara, died June 1, a day after giving birth to the couple’s third child and first son, Enrique. Uribe went on the disabled list June 2 for emotional distress and came off June 17.
