Cheryl Daniels Leads Bowling Tournament
Cheryl Daniels averaged 224 to take a 15-pin lead over Cindy Coburn after Sunday’s first round of the $35,000 Ladies Pro Bowlers Tour Lady LaMode Open at Fullerton.
Daniels, a nine-year tour veteran who has never won a title, finished the opening round with a nine-game total of 2,016 pins. Daniels has finished second three times in her career.
Coburn, trying for her 13th career title, had 2,001 pins.
Robin Romeo, winner of the Canoga Park tournament last Wednesday, was third at 1,999.
Paula Drake was fourth at 1,966, followed by Jan Barnowsky with 1,951 and Anne Marie Pike with 1,925.
The tournament ends Wednesday night when the top six bowlers will advance to the finals. First prize is $7,000.
